Lifting Each Other Up: Why Women Supporting Women is the Key to Success

Updated: Jun 11

Success doesn’t happen in isolation. Women who support, mentor, and advocate for one another create stronger businesses, better career opportunities, and a more inclusive future.

In Part One of our Women’s Leadership Series, we explored how the recruiting industry has changed for women—and the challenges that still remain. Now, we shift the focus to why women supporting women is the key to breaking barriers, advancing careers, and transforming the workplace.

Moving from Competition to Collaboration

Historically, women have often been pitted against each other in professional settings, competing for limited leadership opportunities. But that narrative is changing.

"There’s room for all of us at the table," says Lindsey Webb. "The idea that only a handful of women can rise to the top is outdated. When we lift each other up, we all win."

For Sara Luther, support from other women played a critical role in her career.

"I had so many incredible female mentors—from peers to senior leaders. They believed in me, challenged me, and helped me grow. That’s why I make it a point to mentor other women. We have to be intentional about paying it forward."

How Women Can Actively Support One Another

The most successful women aren’t just climbing the ladder—they’re reaching back to help others rise.

Mentorship & Sponsorship  Guide, encourage, and advocate for women in your field.

Advocating for Pay & Promotions  Challenge pay gaps and make sure women’s contributions are recognized.

Speaking Up in Meetings  Amplify women’s voices by making sure their ideas are heard.

Celebrating Successes  Acknowledge and support women’s achievements—there’s no downside to lifting each other up.

"Women supporting women isn’t just about individual success," says Chantel Johnson. "It’s about changing the culture of the workplace to be more inclusive for everyone."

The Power of Collective Success

Companies are realizing that when women support women, businesses thrive.

"We have to stop thinking of leadership as a solo journey," Sara says. "The strongest leaders bring others along with them. That’s how we create lasting change."

As we continue this Women’s Leadership Series, stay tuned for Part Three, where we’ll dive into how women are redefining leadership—and why the future of business depends on it.
